John Charles Thomas's new books, The Winning Weekend Warrior and Turing's Nightmares are now available  at amazon. https://www.amazon.com/author/truthtable  He received a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Michigan in 1971 and managed a research project in the psychology of aging for two and a half years at Harvard Medical School. He joined IBM Research in 1973 and conducted research in query languages, natural language processing, design problem solving, audio systems, and speech synthesis.  In 1986, John Charles Thomas began and directed the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at NYNEX Science and Technology.  This laboratory did work in expert systems, speech recognition, machine vision, robotics, and intelligent tutoring systems.  He rejoined IBM in 1998 to work in knowledge management and Human-Computer Interaction including Pattern Languages; the business uses of stories and storytelling; e-learning; HCI & International Development; tools for parallel programming; and most recently software governance).  John Charles Thomas has over 150 publications and invited presentations in Human-Computer Interaction.  He has been active in ACM’s special interest group in Computer Human Interaction since its inception at the Gaithersburg conference. blogs - https://petersironwood.wordpress.com and http://johncharlesthomas.sportsblog.com
